Brook Irving-Martz "Pursuit of Excellence" Trophy

This award, which is on permanent display in the Roemer Foundation/USDF Hall of Fame, is awarded to the Children rider who earns the highest combined average score in the three dressage tests: FEI Children Team, Individual, and Preliminary Test B.

The Brook Irving-Martz "Pursuit of Excellence" award embodies the immense impact that Brook Irving-Martz had for youth involvement in the sport of dressage. Whether it is a five-year-old up-down lesson or standing ringside watching one of her students compete at NAYC, Brook enjoyed the process of developing a horse and rider. Brook’s career started early with a very special Appaloosa/ Thoroughbred gelding American Graffiti, with whom she trained from a green horse off the track to an NAYC sensation. Promoting dressage for youth riders was her passion, and she loved being involved with the Youth Outreach Clinic. She also volunteered her time for many years as the Chef d ‘Equipe for the Region 6 NAYC. Brook owned and operated Kellenbrook Farms in Gig Harbor, WA alongside her sister, Kelly Burris. Kellenbrook Farms has grown into a 32-horse barn that trains some of the top young dressage riders in the nation. Brook grew up as a rider through NAYC and left a legacy of inspiration for the generations to come.
